Visit with a provider from wherever you are
Hennepin Healthcare is excited to offer video visits as a convenient option for your care. This kind of virtual care lets you complete a face-to-face visit with your doctor using a camera-enabled device. Video visits are a safe and easy way to receive the same personalized care and expert answers without having to travel to a clinic. It’s a great way to stay connected to your provider to meet your ongoing care needs.
What is a video visit?
This virtual healthcare provider visit is just like a traditional office visit where you choose which doctor you will see. It could be with your established doctor or another provider from Hennepin Healthcare. Video visits are scheduled appointments where you connect directly with your provider through the Hennepin Healthcare MyChart mobile app or via a direct link that will be sent to you. There is no longer a need to download any apps. You can connect on your smartphone, or tablet, or via a camera-enabled laptop or desktop computer browser. Throughout the appointment, you will be able to see, hear, and speak to your provider and they will be able to do the same with you, similar to how Apple FaceTime works.
What can be treated at a video visit?
Many types of care that you’re used to receiving in a clinic can be done with video visits. Here are some examples of the types of video visits you can schedule:
- Primary Care – Common illnesses and injuries, coughs, sneezes, runny noses, sore throats, sinus problems, chronic disease management, mental health concerns, rashes, sleep concerns, nutrition, and weight management, and many more.
- Pediatrics – Common illnesses and injuries, developmental and behavioral concerns, asthma, skin and rashes, headaches, and many more.
- OB-GYN – Prenatal and postpartum care, gynecologic care including birth control
- Specialty care – Video visits are available with many specialties such as cardiology, dermatology, neurology , and more. We also offer video visits for follow-up care and ongoing management of chronic conditions.
It is still necessary that you schedule an in-person clinic visit for such things as pre-op physicals, pediatric well-child checks (physicals), adult physicals requesting pelvic exams or pap smears, and procedures. If you are still unsure if a video visit is appropriate for your care needs, please call 612-873-6963.
