Hennepin Healthcare is actively accepting applications of interested individuals in serving on the Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc. (HHS) Board of Directors, beginning in January 2025. Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc., is a public corporation operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Hennepin County. Special attention will be given to applicants with lived experience in historically marginalized groups.

 HHS Mission

“We partner with our community, our patients and their families to ensure access to outstanding care for everyone, while improving health and wellness through teaching, patient and community education, and research.”

Primary Responsibility

Oversee and guide HHS to achieve its safety net mission related to access, quality and safety, finance, and employee engagement. The Board is also responsible for setting strategy and evaluating CEO performance. The Board fulfills its responsibility by adopting annual plan outcome targets to monitor the organization’s performance and by regularly reviewing programs and activities against the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

 Qualifications

Hennepin Healthcare is currently looking for candidates with experience in:

  • Governance and/or management of healthcare system or large business
  • Healthcare Quality and Safety
  • Strategic Planning
  • Financial Management and Investment
  • Community Engagement
  • Audit and Compliance
  • Construction/ RE Development
  • Human Resources

Terms and Time Commitment

  • Board members are eligible to serve up to three successive three-year terms (9 years total).
  • Meetings are held bi-monthly from 2:00-5:00 pm, with additional meetings as necessary.
  • Annual one-day strategy retreat, typically in July.
  • Members serve on at least one board committee.
