This year’s unique accreditation– led by TBI Outpatient Program Medical Director Dr. Min Jeong Graf & Allison Carolan, TBI Outpatient Program Manager– afforded Hennepin Healthcare the incredible opportunity to the first program or organization in the world to pilot and earn accreditation in “Concussion Program” standards in addition to achieving re-accreditation for its Brain Injury Specialty Program, for both adult and adolescent populations.  We are grateful for this incredible opportunity to pilot the new standards alongside CARF International.

While the CARF concussion standards are brand new to the medical rehab world, the TBI OP program has been treating mild & moderate TBI for decades.  The program was developed twenty years ago this year, originally called The Mild to Moderate Brain Injury Clinic, founded by Dr. Sarah B. Rockswold.  Dr. Rockswold is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician who is still active in TBI research (including the HOBIT trial) at Hennepin Healthcare.

“We are honored to continue this tradition of excellence in outpatient TBI care here at Hennepin, as a flagship program in our community and beyond.” said Carolan.

This fall, the TBI Outpatient Program will recognize this twenty-year accomplishment with a celebration with current and past staff, current and past patients and community partners. The celebration will recognize its founder and developer, Sarah Rockswold, MD.
