Explore Minneapolis at Adventurama – a Local “Amazing Race” in support of Hennepin Healthcare

by Hennepin Healthcare

Hennepin Healthcare Foundation’s 2024 community-wide fundraiser is set for Saturday, June 8, 2024. To date there are more than 60 teams of two adults registered and getting excited to solve clues, complete physical and intellectual challenges, capture photos and create memories in the heart of Minneapolis. These teams – and just as many volunteers – are choosing to support patient comfort and care needs at Hennepin Healthcare.

“Our mission keeps our doors and hearts open to all,” explains Paula Wilhelm, Hennepin Healthcare Foundation’s Engagement Manager. “With more than 75 percent of our patient population on financial assistance, our revenue doesn’t always cover the services that enhance the care and comfort of those we are so honored to serve. Hosting this community event will start the conversation and build awareness of the many needs.”

The Adventurama journey begins and ends in Commons Park, across from U.S. Bank Stadium, and includes 10 pit stops within a three-mile radius of HCMC.

Last year’s landmark event had contestants climbing stairs, rolling barrels, stacking blocks, and learning hands-on CPR. This year teams will travel to 10 pit stops that include a 9-story stair climb to a helipad, hands-on CPR, a basketball shot challenge, a food challenge, the barrel relay and more.

“Unique events like Adventurama bring people into our neighborhood for fun and laughter in support of our community. Hennepin Healthcare and its HCMC hospital have been fixtures in downtown Minneapolis for over 130 years and over the years we have gained friends, grateful patients, corporate partners, and neighbors who share our desire to support patients and their families.”

Proceeds from Adventurama benefit the comfort and care of patients. This can include support programs like spiritual care, the emergency clothing closets, music therapy, immediate food support, appointment transportation, out-of-town family lodging, prescription co-pays, Child Life resources, and the Children’s Literacy program at Hennepin Healthcare.
