Hennepin Healthcare celebrates Juneteenth

Hennepin Healthcare will celebrate Juneteenth on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, with music, food, prayer, speakers, a Black vendors market, and more. Performances from special musical guests Courtland Pickens and Known Minneapolis, DJ J-Blasé, and a Drum Circle with Willaim Harris on June 19 at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people.

“We have made significant strides in our pursuit of health equity, yet there is still much work to be done,” explains Dr. Nneka Sederstrom, Chief Health Equity Officer at Hennepin Healthcare. “Moments like these are crucial for reflecting on our journey, celebrating our identity and progress, and envisioning the path forward. It is the collective effort and commitment to this groundbreaking work that fuels our inspiration and drives us to advocate for a more equitable future for all.”

When:            Tuesday, June 18 (the day before Juneteenth) from 10 am – 4 pm and on Wednesday, June 19 from 11:30- noon Drum Circle with William Harris in the Stillman Education & Community Center, Clinic & Specialty Center

Where:           Downtown Hennepin Healthcare Campus – 716 S. Sixth St. (Purple Building) lawn, first floor welcome area and 2nd floor skyway
