Keep your lungs healthy – for life!

by Hennepin Healthcare

Hennepin Healthcare’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, in collaboration with the Pulmonology and Radiology Departments, is sponsoring a free community event to emphasize the importance of keeping lungs healthy.

“Lung cancer screening is a crucial step in proactive healthcare, offering early detection and treatment options that can significantly improve outcomes,” explains Hennepin Healthcare Radiation Oncologist Dr. Richard Lee. “Emphasizing lung health is not just about preventing disease but also about optimizing respiratory function for a vibrant and active life.”

The “Healthy Lungs for Life” event takes place on Wednesday, June 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at HCMC, where participants can connect with pulmonary providers and community experts, enjoy refreshments and interactive games, and participate in low-impact aerobics, Zumba and yoga. A giant, inflatable lung will be on display to show how lungs work.

Lung cancer screenings can reduce mortality by up to 20%, making them a critical tool in the fight against the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Same-day lung screenings will be available at this event for those eligible. See the Healthy Lungs for Life website for details.
