Center for Acute Respiratory Failure

Hennepin Healthcare is one of the region's leading providers of respiratory critical care. The Center for Acute Respiratory Failure offers state-of-the-art care for adults who develop severe respiratory failure from disease or injury. Our program offers the most advanced support including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and minimally invasive removal of pulmonary emboli.

We provide the highest level of expert care for:

  • Acute episodes of asthma
  • Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)
  • Chest trauma
  • Drowning

Refer a Patient

Hennepin Healthcare is a regional referral center for both emergency and non-emergency/critical care cases and complex elective procedures. We can accept referrals and transfers of acute respiratory patients from hospitals throughout the region. We have the ability to transport critically ill patients by ground or air. Our highly skilled team can accompany the patient in transport.
