About the Symposium
The LTTL Symposium brings together change-makers across the state of MN, advancing access to whole health services for the communities who need it most. It will:
- Gather people from diverse locations, communities, and populations
- Provide collaboration and networking opportunities
- Highlight integrative and whole-person health alongside conventional medicine in chronic pain care
- Foster connections among stakeholders for ongoing and future wellness initiatives

Keynote Speakers
Dr. Fishel is an integrative clinical and health psychologist and the GME Director of Residency Wellness for USC/LA General at the University of Southern California. She is the former co-founder and CO-Director of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Vanderbilt Medical School. She also co-developed the Distressed Physician Course at Vanderbilt University which incorporates emotional intelligence, narrative medicine and mindfulness and taught a trauma psychotherapy course in the School of Social Work at USC. She is a consultant for integrative health centers, is the co-director of the LEAPS integrative medicine leadership yearly intensive for trainees, developed integrative nature-based retreats for individuals living with chronic pain, and currently teaches in the USC’s master’s program on chronic pain. Dr. Fishel has a unique clinical practice where she incorporates self-compassion, creative arts, mindfulness, movement, depth psychology, spirituality, body-centered practices and the healing medicine of community, music, and the natural world. The guiding principles in her work are authenticity, meaning, and connection and she encourages a deepening relationship with the innate gifts of one’s own soul.
Dr. Prasad is the Chief Strategic Development Officer at Hennepin Healthcare (HHS) in Minneapolis, MN, and overall Program Director for Integrative Health and Medicine and its signature programs such as NOPAINMN, Heals on Wheels (HoW), and a Minnesota wide program, Training , Learning, and Coordinating Center, Heals on Wheels (TLC-HoW). She is also the director of Project ECHO Minnesota, HHS. Dr. Prasad is a Professor of Internal Medicine at University of Minnesota, at University of New Mexico, and an Adjunct Professor at the Maharishi International University (MIU) as the Director of Fellowship MS in Integrative Medicine and Ayurveda. She is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine and is the founding board member of the American Board of Integrative Medicine (ABOIM). To honor her overall contributions to the field of integrative medicine and to the ABOIM board, she was awarded the 2025 Physician of the Year award by the American Board of Integrative Medicine.
Breakout Speakers
Dr. Robert “Cole” Pueringer is a Medical Toxicologist, Addiction Medicine Specialist, and Hospitalist. He serves as Medical Director of the Substance Use and Addiction Care Program at Essentia Health. He joined Essentia Health in September 2022 after completing his medical training in the Twin Cities.
Dr. Brian Erickson has been at the M Health Fairview Maplewood Pain Center since 2015. He is certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine, and is a Board Certified Psychiatrist. He went to medical school at the University of MN, and a Psychiatry residency in Vermont. He practiced in Duluth and Vermont. He has an interest in combining Functional Medicine in a traditional setting.
Susan Haddow, MD, IFMCP, ABOIM, has been board-certified in family medicine since 1990, working with a variety of underserved populations, and has been involved with teaching family medicine residents since 1998. She practices integrative primary care in the Hennepin Healthcare system in Minneapolis, MN, at Whittier Clinic with three other medical providers, a chiropractor, and an acupuncturist, and with nutrition and mental health services embedded within the Family Medicine Residency Program. She runs group visits for patients with chronic pain. Functional and integrative medicine infuses her patient care, resident teaching, and her view on health and well-being, as well as her practice of apple farming, gardening, and her love of nature.
Dr. Haddow completed medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, in 1987 and family medicine residency at St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center (now Regions Hospital), St. Paul in 1990. She has been certified through the Institute for Functional Medicine and the American Board of Integrative Medicine.
Dr. Peter B. Scal, MD, MPH, is a pediatrician who partners with communities to help teens and young adults build health habits that stick. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School and Medical Director at Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps Center, a federal career-training program, where care centers on what matters to students: feeling better, staying in training, and getting hired.
In partnership with Dr. Julia Joseph-Di Caprio, founder of LEAP Pediatric and Adolescent Care, Dr. Scal co-leads a group series at Job Corps that teaches non-medication tools for chronic pain, stress, and anxiety. This work focuses on simple, no-cost skills that staff and students can use the same day. Drawing on community-based care and practical research, his goal is straightforward: make health care easier and more motivating for young people so they can thrive in school, work, and life.
Kate is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Integrative Medicine, having completed the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine Fellowship in 2017. She is an Associate Professor with the University of Minnesota and Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis, MN. Her clinical focus is in Integrative Chronic Pain care group medical visit programs. She also teaches a culinary medicine, food systems, and nutrition graduate and continuing education course called Food Matters for Health Professionals with the Bakken Center for Spirituality and Healing. Kate serves as a subject matter expert in the areas of Integrative Medicine, non-pharmacologic chronic pain care, group medical visits, food/food systems, and nutrition. She is active in sustainable agriculture and food justice efforts in Southeastern Massachusetts, where she and her husband recently relocated to be close to family.
Catherine Justice is an Integrative Physical Therapist, Certified Yoga Therapist, and Program Manager for Integrative Health at Hennepin Healthcare. She holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (University of Minnesota) and is a graduate of the AIHM’s two-year Fellowship. She is the Associate Editor for the International Journal of Yoga Therapy and founder of The Art of Wellness, LLC. She is a freelance writer and speaker and is passionate about increasing access to integrative medicine.

Jacinta Rebang is a Program Coordinator with the Center for Teaching Wellness and Coordination – Wellness on Wheels (TLC–WoW) program at Hennepin Healthcare. She holds a Master of Public Health and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). With over seven years of experience in public health program implementation, including work with the PEPFAR program in Cameroon, she brings expertise in project coordination, community engagement, and program evaluation. Jacinta is passionate about advancing equitable, community-based health initiatives and expanding access to whole-person wellness through collaboration and innovative care delivery models.
Jadyn is the Sr. Research Assistant for the Department of Medicine - Integrative Health Division at Hennepin Healthcare. She graduated from Clarke University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in psychology and a minor in biology. She is currently working on completing her Master of Arts (MA) degree in Research and Experimental Psychology at San José State University, with a focus on substance misuse and overdose risk, knowledge, and attitudes. She is passionate about research focused on opioids, clinically meaningful improvements, and spreading knowledge of and access to integrative health modalities.
