Clinical expertise
Dr. Loavenbruck is a board certified neurologist with sub-specialty certification in diseases of peripheral nerves and muscle. Dr. Loavenbruck has brought standardized testing for autonomic disorders to HCMC. He is trained in performing EMG, and is the Director of the HCMC EMG laboratory and neuromuscular division. He has certification in Neuromuscular Pathology, and is co-director of the HCMC Neuromuscular Laboratory, where he reads nerve and muscle biopsies. He has a post-graduate degree in Clinical Research, and works 50% time in the Kennedy Laboratory of the University of Minnesota developing noninvasive, painless tests for detection of peripheral neuropathy.

Personal
"I moved to Minnesota from suburban New York in 1993 to attend Macalester College. After college, I worked as a tree climber doing residential tree pruning in the Twin Cities metro. I built a recording studio at that time and have used it over the years to record dozens of albums of my own music and that of friends. I met my wife here in Minnesota and the two of us moved to New York City together for me to attend medical school. We moved back to Minnesota in 2005 and have a young son, Owen."
