Commitment to patient-centered care
"I am committed to compassionate, patient-centered, and relationship-based care and providing the best available options to my patients. I am blessed to have the opportunity to practice medicine and promote healing in all my patients from diverse backgrounds in our community."
Clinical expertise
Dr. Prasad is board-certified in Internal and Integrative Medicine with special interests in culturally inspired care, integrative health, community engagement, interprofessional education, and workforce well-being. Her path in medicine was deeply influenced by witnessing the aftermath of the Bhopal gas tragedy – one of the world’s worst industrial disasters – during her final year of medical school in India, an experience that shaped her lifelong commitment to healing and advocacy.
She completed her Internal Medicine training in New York and New Mexico, followed by a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, executive leadership training at Drexel University, and Certified Physician Executive certification through the American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL)
Throughout her career, Dr. Prasad has led clinical, educational, and community programs that reflect a deep respect for whole-person care and cultural humility. She developed the nationally recognized Center for Life in New Mexico, and at Hennepin Healthcare, she helped launch the nation’s first Division of Person-Centered and Culturally Inspired Integrative Health in the Department of Medicine. As the Director of Project ECHO Minnesota, and several other regional and state-wide programs, she is working with her team to improve access to integrative pain care, prevention of opioid crisis, and in reducing health disparities across the state. She serves as a founding board member of the American Board of Integrative Medicine and was honored to receive the “2025 Physician of the Year” award.
Dr. Prasad continues to mentor and teach medical trainees in both primary care and the cancer center, where she also practices integrative oncology. Her clinical approach is always grounded in the belief that healing begins with compassion, trust, and human connection.
