Hennepin Healthcare's Talent Garden program has a great lineup of experiences prepared for the 100+ youth ages 12-18 attending its Black Youth with Stethoscopes Summit on Saturday, February 22, 2025. This is the 14th event for youth interested in healthcare careers, and with Saturday's expected attendance, the total number of youth hosted at Talent Garden events since its inception four years ago will exceed 1,000. Many of the young people who have benefited from the program are now in college. Saturday's Youth Summit will feature a panel of Black healthcare professionals who will share their experience and tips for pursuing a career in healthcare. Participants will also engage in hands-on activities using actual medical equipment and training tools, have opportunities to talk to healthcare providers, and, like the other Summits, will receive a stethoscope and white lab coat with their names on them. Talent Garden initiatives like these are vital to help grow interest in careers and ultimately fill the critical need for healthcare professionals.
