A celebration at the Redleaf Center for Family Healing
Moms were celebrated and remembered this past Sunday, and at the Redleaf Center for Family Healing, they recognize that moms need their own support in order to provide the care children and families need to thrive. Yet many mothers struggle with depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. The Center invites the public to join them to learn more about maternal mental health conditions, which are the leading complications of pregnancy in the US.
On Thursday, May 15, from 4-6 p.m., the Redleaf Center is raising awareness of maternal mental health at an Honoring Mothers event to share information about the Center's mental health and parenting support services. The evening will also feature tours, speakers, wellness activities, light refreshments, and an art activity to honor mothers.

"None of us can do the hard work of pregnancy and parenting on our own, particularly when we're struggling with our own mental health," explains Dr. Helen Kim, Medical Director for the Mother-Baby Program and Redleaf Center. "In fact, mental health conditions are the number one complication of pregnancy in the U.S., and one in five pregnant and postpartum moms struggle with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. These are common, nameable, and treatable conditions. We want moms to know that you deserve love and support. You are not to blame. And with help, you can feel better."
Hennepin Healthcare's Redleaf Center for Family Healing is also home to the Mother-Baby Day Hospital, Minnesota's only perinatal-specific partial hospital program (there are only seven in the U.S.). During the May 15 event, there will be tours of the Day Hospital and the Redleaf Kitchen where we teach and gather to promote the health-sustaining role of food and family meals in supporting whole person, whole family mental health.

Hennepin Healthcare's Redleaf Center for Family Healing is celebrating five years of providing hope and healing for Minnesota parents, babies, and families. It's home to the Mother-Baby Program, which provides a range of intensive outpatient mental health and parenting support services for individuals during pregnancy and parenting of young children. Additional services include outpatient mental health and parenting support and reproductive psychiatric care for individuals who are expecting a baby, parenting young children, or planning a pregnancy; a teaching kitchen, and other mind-body-spirit supports.
The Hennepin Healthcare Foundation launched is largest fundraising campaign at the time to create The Redleaf Center for Family Healing. A transformational gift by the Lynne & Andrew Redleaf Foundation, among other donors, made it possible five years ago. Today, the Center continues to welcome philanthropic support to enhance the patient experience. www.hennepinhealthcare.org/foundation
